ROLLINGDOG: A Painting Tools Brand Built for Real Work
About ROLLINGDOG
ROLLINGDOG is a painting tools brand founded in 2010, focused on building better tools for people who paint, whether that's a first-time DIYer or a seasoned professional.
From the beginning, we concentrated on one category only: painting tools. Brushes, rollers, surface prep tools, and drywall tools are not side products for us, they are the core of what we do. Each year, we reinvest 3-5% of our sales into research and development, refining how our tools feel in the hand, how they perform on surfaces, and how well they hold up over time.
Our belief is simple: good painting tools should make the work smoother, more controllable, and less tiring.

How ROLLINGDOG Began
ROLLINGDOG was inspired by founder David's loyal dog, Bean.
In 2010, after years of success in the painting tools industry, David sought a brand name that reflected both creativity and expertise.
One evening, as Bean greeted him with boundless energy, rolling gleefully on the ground, an image that reminded him of a paint roller’s smooth motion on the wall.
This heartfelt moment gave birth to the name ROLLINGDOG.
The Problems We Set Out to Solve
Across countless painting projects, small DIY jobs and large renovations alike, we keep seeing the same problems repeat:
- Brushes that leave heavy marks or shed during use
- Rollers that don't hold enough paint or release it unevenly
- Tools that cause hand fatigue long before the job is done
- Prep and sanding work that creates unnecessary mess and frustration
These issues aren't about skill. They're about tools that weren't designed with real working conditions in mind.
ROLLINGDOG exists because we believe painting should feel more controlled and less chaotic. When tools work the way they should, painters can focus on the surface in front of them, not on fighting their equipment.
Built for Real Projects, Designed for Real Work
Who We Design For
We design tools for people who care about results.
That includes DIYers who want their work to look clean and professional, and professionals who rely on consistency and durability across repeated projects.
Different experience levels, same expectations: tools that feel reliable and predictable in use.
What Problems We Focus On
Our design work centers on a few core challenges:
- Control at edges and transitions
- Even paint loading and release
- Reduced splatter and visible marks
- Comfort during longer painting sessions
How We Approach Tool Design
We think about painting as a complete process, not a single step.
- Surface Preparation
Clean, smooth surfaces are the foundation of a good finish. Our prep tools help scrape, fill, and sand, so paint adheres properly and dries evenly. - Brushes for Control
Edges, trims, and details demand precision. Our brushes are designed to load paint efficiently, release it evenly, and stay comfortable in hand over time. - Rollers for Efficiency
Rolling should feel fast and controlled. Our rollers are built to hold more paint, reduce splatter, and leave consistent coverage on walls and ceilings. - Drywall Tools for Flat, Clean Surfaces
From patching small imperfections to smoothing larger areas, our drywall tools help create surfaces that improve the final paint result.
Together, these tools support the entire painting process, from the first step of prep to the final roll.
Earning Trust, Project After Project
International Design Recognition
Today, ROLLINGDOG tools are used in more than 70 countries across six continents.
Along the way, we've received international design recognition, including Red Star and European GOOD DESIGN awards.
Trusted by People Who Paint
More importantly, we've earned trust from painters who return to our tools because they perform consistently, project after project. Feedback from both DIYers and professionals points to the same strengths: tools that feel better in use, hold paint more effectively, and help deliver cleaner finishes.
What We're Working Toward
ROLLINGDOG's vision isn't about chasing trends or expanding into unrelated categories. It's about continuing to refine the tools people already rely on.
By focusing on real-world use, thoughtful design, and steady improvement, we aim to make painting feel more fluid and more satisfying, no matter the size of the project.
Whether you're refreshing a single wall or working through a full renovation, the right tools make the difference. We're here to build them.
